My Bio

This is my second account on dA (my main account is listed above in the 'About' section) - and it's main focus is on Fractal Manipulations.

When I began 'manipulating' raw fractals...way back before the window was even invented...there wasn't even a term for it, a category for it, or many of us doing even doing it. But I was producing a lot of fractals that I had imported into other art programs, and changing them, and to my mind, for the better.

Since that time, the term 'manipulation' has come in to vogue, and it was given its own sub-category. It was about that time that I decided to have two accounts - my main account - to post raw fractals, and this one - to post manipulations of my raw fractals.

That's my story, and I'm sticking with it.

Good morning Mark, wishing you a very happy birthday and I hope that you have a great day!

:D Happy Birthday Grin

Thank you Derek!!

Hey buddy, I've visited your pages many times (both accts) but I never read the bio. I happened to this time what you said about Musical Artists and Favorite Bands resonated with me...ain't it the truth:clap:

I'm a musician too. I've played for money (so I guess that means I'm professional?), for almost 47 years. I played my 1st paying gig when i was 15, and have never looked back. Mostly i play in bars. I just played last night!! My bands first gig in over 8 months, due to the pandemic. Any way, this is just a long walk to get to - if there is one thing I've learned over the years, is that I've developed a like/love for very specific bands and artists; and further, that many people actually don't appreciate what I like. They like what they like. And really, that's a good thing. It would be boring if we all liked the same things (and this goes beyond music...any artform really). That diversity is part of what helps creativity along. I always say to people there are only two kinds of music, and let them guess what they are...and most people eventually say 'good and bad'. Sorry for the long explanation, but it's a favourite topic of mine - especially with other musicians, who don't seem to understand this simple truth about how people view their art. It's all in the eye/ear/heart of the beholder.

Where I can here your music?

Long explanations are fine, I'm not a musician just a Lifelong Biker been riding Harley's almost as long as listening to music. The only thing I can play is the Stereo but I'm really good at that. I've been collecting Vinyl since the early mid 60s then 45s later LPs from the Ventures to the Beach Boys to lately accumulating what I can find of Riverside, Massive Attack and Porcupine Tree. I too agree there are two kinds of music and that's fine, if I were to try and pigeonhole my tastes it would be Prog Rock. My fav tee shirt says "your song is 3 minutes "PROG ROCK" that's the length of my Intro" but that's not the full scope of my tastes a lot of my fav tunes are 3mins. All Art is subjective, music, video, imagery all of it there is one thing I muse about sometimes, I don't obsess on it but I do consider it now and then, and that is. If Mathematics is the Universal Language does that make Fractals the Universal Artform;P
